    Own Car

The day i did my First Oil change!

I remember the first day i did my first oil change. i was eight and my father had a burgundy lincoln town car, he was always taking car of his car and what not so one day i guess he decided it was time to teach me the importance of performing an oil change. I was busy playing ball with my friends yet just seeing our family car on top of jack stands did inquire my interest so i decided to take a “gander”. I walked over to him and said “hey pops, what’s wrong with the car” He didnt say anything, my dad was generally a angry yet quiet man all he did was point at the 13mm wrench and said pass that over to me. He untightened the oil nut and let the old dirty oil flow inside a medium sized pan, he said the first step in owning a vehicle “you have to change the oil every 3k miles”. I was eight and thought man i cant wait to own car so i can drive around and look “cool” so i listened some more.

He continued by saying ” Oil is what keeps the engines insides running happy just like the food that enters your tummy basically bad oil bad engine bad food unhappy you! I change the oil every 3k miles along with the filter and the old girl has never let me down engine wise that is :) but the importance of what im telling you is if you dont change your oil you will not have a happy car, if you dont have a happy car, you’ll have an empty wallet!”

It’s been years now and every time i change my oil i remember that memory. I one day hope to teach my kid the same lesson.

So what about my readers? When did your first oil change lesson took place?
